How to Select a Mode Field Adapter
Choose an MFA by input fiber, output fiber, signal wavelength, acceptable insertion loss and package.
Use this guide when the application or some target parameters are known but the final component specification still needs to be narrowed before RFQ.
Selection logic
Start with the fiber pair
The MFA data lists standard SMA-to-LMA fiber combinations such as 6/125→10/125 and 10/125→20/400.
Check signal wavelength
Standard signal ranges are 1030–1080 nm or 1450–1600 nm.
Review forward and backward loss
The insertion-loss values depend on the selected fiber pair.
Confirm package during engineering review
Available configurations use the D1–D7 package family or a custom package.
