Choose Standard PM WDM when...
Choose the standard family when its specified power rating comfortably covers the system and smaller packaging is useful.
Choose High Power PM WDM when...
Choose the high-power family when CW power exceeds the standard device limit or the system explicitly requires a high-power package.

Can a standard 3 W WDM be used at 5 W?
Do not assume this. Use the specified high-power series or request engineering confirmation.
Does a larger package automatically mean higher power?
No. Use the specified power rating and package together rather than package size alone.
