Quality & Reliability

Defined requirements.
Meaningful verification.

Acceptance criteria, test conditions and records that make a component's performance assessable.

A test value is useful only when its conditions and acceptance limit are clear. Use the selected product specification and confirmed configuration as the common reference for evaluating the supplied component.

Specification → evidenceAgree on what is checked,
under which conditions, and how it is recorded.

Acceptance & inspection

Defined acceptance criteria.

The following are review points for an inspection plan. Applicable items and report requirements depend on the selected component and order.

Review areaWhat to agreeWhat the record should identify
Optical performanceApplicable loss, isolation, return loss, splitting ratio or other model-specific limits.Parameter, measured result, acceptance limit, wavelength and port direction.
Fiber & PM configurationFiber type and dimensions, port mapping and polarization requirements where applicable. The selected fiber interfaces and the conditions used for a PM measurement.
Power & thermal conditionsOperating power, duty cycle and cooling or mounting conditions relevant to the design. The applied conditions and any separately agreed qualification procedure.
Mechanical & shipment detailsPackage, pigtails, connector type, identification and packaging requirements.Configuration or drawing reference and agreed delivery documentation.

Report format, sample identification and any additional inspection requirements should be agreed before the order is confirmed.

Reliability evaluation

A reliability claim needs
a defined test.

Environmental or endurance evaluation must be tied to the actual component and application. Routine optical measurements alone do not establish service life.

01

Stress conditions

If temperature, humidity or power-aging evaluation is required, specify the conditions and discuss the applicable test scope with engineering.

02

Duration & assessment

Agree on exposure time or cycles, monitoring points, and the limits used to compare performance before and after testing.

03

Configuration relevance

Check that the evaluated fiber, package, power and cooling conditions correspond to the intended use. Qualification scope is confirmed for the selected design.

Identification & repeat orders

Configuration records & traceability.

For repeat builds and quality reviews, agree on the identification and records needed to distinguish the supplied configuration.

  • Configuration referenceProduct model, approved specification or drawing revision, and any confirmed deviations.
  • Item identificationOrder reference and the unit or batch identification required for the project.
  • Test & delivery recordsAgreed test results and shipment documents associated with the supplied component.

When a result needs review

Review of field conditions.

An order or item reference, measured result and test conditions provide a basis for investigating a discrepancy. Wavelength, power, port direction, setup details and connection photos help relate the result to the confirmed specification.
