Passive Component Repair, Recoating & Refurbishment Services

Repair assessment for damaged combiners, isolators and polarization assemblies. The scope may include failure analysis, pigtail work, recoating or optical refurbishment, depending on inspection and engineering confirmation.

1. High-Power Combiner Recovery

For damaged or burned multimode pump combiners and (N+1)×1 signal combiners:

  • Removal of burned outer recoat polymer
  • Precision re-stripping and low-index fluoro-polymer recoating
  • Cladding Light Stripper (CLS) replacement & burn test
  • Post-repair pump transmission efficiency measurement (> 93%)

2. Optical Isolator & Crystal Check

For damaged in-line or free-space optical isolators suffering power degradation:

  • Faraday rotator crystal thermal fracture inspection
  • Pigtail facet repolishing and AR-coating inspection
  • Active laser re-alignment of slow axis (PER ≥ 20–25 dB)
  • Calibrated high-power backward return loss verification

3. Connector End-Face Refurbishment

For high-power connectors (FC/APC, High-Power SMA905, LC) with pitted or burned faces:

  • Precision ferrule re-polishing to IEC 61300-3-35 Class A
  • Zone A core interferometry: zero scratches, zero pits
  • Splice bubble elimination and fusion program optimization
  • Full factory acceptance test (FAT) inspection sheet

RMA freight, tax & customs terms

International repair and refurbishment shipments are handled under the following logistics terms:

  • Round-Trip Shipping Freight: The customer is 100% responsible for all inbound freight to our Shenzhen cleanroom facility and all outbound return shipping charges.
  • Customs Duties & Taxes: All import tariffs, value-added taxes (VAT), export taxes, and customs broker handling fees incurred during entry into China or re-entry into the destination country must be borne entirely by the customer.
  • RMA Documentation: Prior to dispatching any equipment, submit an RMA request to receive formal commercial repair proforma instructions with the proper HS code (Temporary Import for Repair / Processing Trade) to prevent unlawful customs valuation.
  • Evaluation Timeline: Initial inspection reports and repair feasibility assessments are issued following cleanroom bench inspection upon receipt. If unrepairable, only a nominal evaluation bench fee applies.
